Cupcakes and lollipops have historically been common themes when it comes to song lyrics – who doesn’t love the Chordettes, the all-girl quartet from Sheboygan, Wisconsin?
Or teenaged Millie Small’s version of My Boy Lollipop? So much more innocent than today’s pop stars might interpret this theme…
If you have an Oscars party planned for the weekend, a batch of cake pops is totally doable – without having to bake the cakes from scratch, crumble and reform them, then transform them into impossibly intricate characters. Some may say cake pops are a little past their prime, but they’re still fun for a party – and you can totally cheat them by picking up a container of doughnut holes or Timbits, melting some chocolate, and simply dipping one into the other.
Sprinkles or coarse sugar will take care of any flaws – no need to pipe on a face! Although if you have the gumption to turn them into likenesses of Bradley Cooper, Reese Witherspoon and Benedict Cumberbatch, go right ahead. We’re just going to eat these, right?
Happy Oscars weekend!
